Glorious Morning!

Glorious morning! Jesus has risen!
Death could not hold Him; no stone can seal.
Glorious morning! The world has a Savior!
He is alive, and His truth is revealed!

These lyrics, sung by Sandi Patti, and written by Lari Goss, Gary McSpadden, and Linda Dooley, have been going through my mind the last few days. I can only imagine the glorious morning that must have been. Those who were deep in mourning now had a reason to rejoice like they never had before. What they didn’t realize at the time was that, not only did Jesus defeat death for Himself; He did so for us as well.

Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because He lives, we have a song to sing. Because He lives, we can forgive those who sin against us. Because He lives, we can walk in holiness. There is so much more to the resurrection than someone dying and being raised to life. If that was all there was to it, Lazarus would have sufficed. Jesus conquered death once and for all so that His followers no longer need to fear it. He created a passageway for us to spend the rest of our lives in His presence, beginning now and moving on into eternity.

Knowing this to be the case, every morning that we wake up in the awareness of God’s presence should be a glorious morning. I encourage you to begin each day thanking God that He is with you no matter what comes your way. Praise God that we serve a living Savior! Let’s let His light so shine among men that they will see our good works and glorify our Father who is in Heaven.
