Christ as King

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, should die for me?

When you think about a king, you may envision someone surrounded by servants–someone who speaks the word, and people start rushing to quickly carry out his commands. In times past, one misplaced step or disobedient act would have led to the offender’s demise.

We sing about Jesus being our King, but how many of His commands do we ignore? Fortunately, our King is loving and merciful. He does not force us to obey Him, but He does require obedience if we are to live in His Kingdom. This world is truly not our home, and if we embrace it as though it is, we set ourselves up for heartache and tragedy when this life is over.

This week, let’s picture ourselves as servants of the greatest King that ever lived because, although He has adopted us as sons and daughters, it is not so we can be spoiled brats. He gave up everything for us. We owe everything to Him.
