Don’t Be a Fool

by | Sep 6, 2026 | Uncategorized

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good.  ~Psalm 53:1

I’m guessing everyone reading this believes there is a God, yet many live as though they don’t believe it, which makes them equally as foolish. Some content themselves with believing in Jesus (Acts 16:31) and forget that even the demons believe, and they tremble (James 2:19). Abiding in God’s Word (obeying Him) and loving others is what makes us His disciples (John 8:31; 13:35).

The world is enticing. It’s easy to want Jesus and the world too, but Jesus told His disciples that we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). If we try to do that, our loyalty will most likely become tied to the world while our passion for Christ fades.

I remember Kenny Hinson telling how he was offered a secular recording contract, but he would have had to water down his Christian message. He considered taking the offer until the Lord showed him that he would be compromising His calling to do that. It’s easy to think we are strong, to convince ourselves that we could reach more people for Christ if we accept that “better” position, but one must know beyond a shadow of a doubt if God is indeed moving in that direction before accepting another role, no matter how great it may seem.

I love the psalmist’s heart when he said:

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. ~Psalm 84:10

That should be the position of everyone who takes on the name of Christ. It’s not wrong to be known or to have a high position, but it’s important that God places us there and not we ourselves.

The Importance of Bible Reading AND Prayer

When considering if it is more important to pray or read the Bible, I would say they are equally important. Although most Christians seem to find one or the other difficult to do, both are vital to maintaining a close walk with God. We live in a fast-paced society...
