This past week, the song that kept rising up in my heart was “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
God truly is a faithful father. Many of us cannot say that about our earthly fathers, but what a blessing to know that God is faithful no matter what is going on in the world.
There is no shadow of turning in Thee
God doesn’t even have a hint of change in Him. He was the God yesterday that He will be today and throughout eternity. If He took care of you in the past, He will continue to do so. You simply need to trust Him.
Thou changest not; Thy compassions, they fail not
Another old hymn asked the question, “Does Jesus care?” The emphatic answer is, “Oh, yes, He cares. I know He cares!” You may feel forsaken if you have lost loved ones or income or possessions, but the One who promised to never leave you nor forsake you has not forgotten His promise. He is still there. Cast all of your cares upon Him and know that He still cares for you.
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be
What a blessed assurance. Brothers and Sisters, no matter what you are going through, turn to your faithful Father. Lift your eyes off of your circumstances and give Him the praise and glory He deserves for the many blessings He has poured out upon you. Begin to sing out loud:
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning, new mercies I see
All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
I am so thankful that He is the One who is faithful and that we do not have to depend on our faithfulness. I struggle enough with my own failures, but He keeps me by His power. This is one of my favorite hymns.
