Fear Not Tomorrow

by | Mar 15, 2020 | Uncategorized

What a week! How quickly everyone went from living normal lives to flooding stores and cancelling major events. It’s been interesting watching responses to the Coronavirus. Some are concerned while others think it’s all a lot of hype and are annoyed that they cannot attend the concert they had been looking forward to. Many churches closed today while others are determined to go on with life as usual.

Like some of you, part of my income comes from conferences which may be cancelled. So far, there has only been one that we were scheduled to be at that has done so, but more will be deciding this week. By God’s grace, I am not worried at this point. This virus did not take God by surprise, and I trust that He will provide for us. But He can also keep the virus from spreading further. Either way, my trust is in Him, not in what is going on around me. If He doesn’t calm the storm, He will carry us through it.

I would like to challenge my Brothers and Sisters to take this time to pray for each other. People are being affected in various ways. Don’t become so self-focused that you forget about others who are dying or being more inconvenienced than you are at present. This would also be a great time to encourage someone. Call a friend that you haven’t talked to in a while. Take time to write to your favorite gospel singer or group and let them know how much their ministry has meant to you. Ask God to show you if there is someone in need of extra funds that you could bless financially right now. Let’s use this time to draw near to the Lord and be led by the Spirit. He has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. May we use those things for His glory.

If you are being affected by this virus in some way and would like prayer, please comment below or email me at sonyelise@gmail.com. If you are one who is dependent on events for your livelihood, please let me know how everything is going for you. Are your events being cancelled or is everything going well so far? I would love to hear from you.

I want to close with these words from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Amen!

I wonder how long this coronavirus is going to last. I know later this year there will be huge events such as Memphis Quartet Show, Silver Dollar City Southern Gospel Festival, and National Quartet Convention. I hope this coronavirus doesn’t last much longer because it would be sad to see these big events cancelled (especially NQC because I plan on going to that).

When considering if it is more important to pray or read the Bible, I would say they are equally important. Although most Christians seem to find one or the other difficult to do, both are vital to maintaining a close walk with God. We live in a fast-paced society...

Keeping Focus

This past weekend, I ran book tables at a conference. It had been over a year since I had done that, but since it was a large portion of my life for a number of years, I felt right at home. God has given me the ability to connect with people, and I love doing so. As I...

Loving God’s Law

Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. ~Psalm 119:97 I wonder how many Christians can honestly say they love God's law, let alone meditate on it. A love for God's law begins with a love for His Word, yet many struggle to read the Bible, as they...
