Are You Ready?

by | Nov 18, 2018 | Uncategorized

I awoke this morning to the news of Les Beasley’s death. This got me thinking about Heaven and what a wonderful promise that this life is not all there is. No wonder those who don’t know the Lord weep as those who have no hope. After all, that is truly how they are: hopeless.

But then my mind turns to those who hope, but it is hope in the weakest sense of the word: they hope that they are going to make it. I mean, they live a basically good life. They may have one or two areas that some people would consider to be sin but God wouldn’t judge them for that, would He? He’s a God of grace after all.

I am thank for God’s grace, but His grace does not negate His holiness. There is a reason Jesus told the parable of the sheep and the goats. “Many will say unto me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works?’ And then will I profess unto them, ‘I never knew you: depart from me, you who work iniquity'” (Matthew 7:22-23). I believe this will be the majority of professing believers in America today.

I am not being judgmental. I’m examining my own heart as well. Are there things in my life that aren’t pleasing to the Lord? Am I accomplishing God’s purposes in my life? Am I truly walking with Him, or am I living for myself? Am I ready to meet Him if He were to call me Home tonight? I would encourage you to ask these questions of yourself and know that you will see your loved ones again after this life is over. Are you ready?

Keeping Focus

This past weekend, I ran book tables at a conference. It had been over a year since I had done that, but since it was a large portion of my life for a number of years, I felt right at home. God has given me the ability to connect with people, and I love doing so. As I...

Loving God’s Law

Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. ~Psalm 119:97 I wonder how many Christians can honestly say they love God's law, let alone meditate on it. A love for God's law begins with a love for His Word, yet many struggle to read the Bible, as they...
