NEWS THIS WEEK
Gaither Music Group announced a new partnership with television network Circle. The Gaither Gospel Hour aired on Circle for the first time this past Tuesday.
Last Friday, we broke the news that the Southern Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame and Museum will be leaving Dollywood. This past Tuesday, the SGMA officially announced the departure in a press release stating that “the lease on the building housing the SGMA Hall of Fame and Museum at Dollywood will not be renewed in 2021 because of the current operating environment.”
The SGMA also issued a plea for support. The expense of dismantling the displays and storing thousands of Southern Gospel artifacts until another location can be secured will be a great challenge. If you can help SGMA during this transition, send donations to P.O. Box 6729, Sevierville, Tennessee, 37864, or via their website at www.sgma.org.
Daywind Records and Daywind Music Publishing announced they have extended their business partnership with Karen Peck & New River. The group has released recordings exclusively on the Daywind Records label for the past 14 years.
The Singing News Fan Awards were presented last Friday during the NQC Fall Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Click HERE to watch the awards. Click HERE to review lists of practically every Fan Award presented since the awards launched in 1970.
Each year at the Fan Awards, the Favorite Song finalists are performed by the respective groups. These performances are not included in the video linked above, but you can click HERE to watch all five of those in a YouTube playlist.
New Legacy Project announced that Hunter Sparkman, their long time lead singer, will be leaving the group at the end of 2020. The group will be auditioning singers over the December/January break, with the intent of bringing a new member on board for the January tour. Those interested should email a performance video or demo MP3 and headshot to kingdomartistsmedia@gmail.com.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Please continue to pray for Jared Stuffle of The Perrys who had colon surgery last Friday. Jared has since had to return to the hospital for a round of antibiotics. He is potentially facing a second surgery if the antibiotics fail to work.
Please pray for other artists who have had to miss concert appearances in the past week, whether due to COVID-19, other illnesses, concert cancellations, or financial circumstances.
Pray for artists and people who depend on working artists for their income (bus drivers, studios, record label personnel, etc.) as they seek out other types of work during this down time to pay their bills.
