I was very happy to see the new Gold City album on this list. As in, an album with actual NEW SONGS on it. Not just old hits that were redone by the current lineup. I believe the last time this happened was all the way back at the end of 2011 when they released “Somebody’s Coming”. That’s almost 7 years. When’s the last time a full time SG singing group went that long between mainline album releases……..?

I’m super excited for the new Gold City album! I saw them in concert recently and they sang “Those Same Hands” and it is a great song. I can’t think of another group that has gone that long without a new mainline release although I guess “Hymn Revival” was considered a mainline release because it got full production and had a great radio single in “Power of the Cross”.

Even “Somebody’s Coming” took a year and a half to see completed due to lineup changes mid-production.

What’s even more surprising is the fact that, since 2003, every single Gold City album (mainline or table projects) has been recorded by a different lineup. If you count the new songs on “Treasures of Gold,” this is the first time in 15 years that the same vocal lineup has appeared on more than one album.
