Last Week’s Happenings

  • Greater Vision announced the addition of former Inspirations/LeFevre/Ball Brothers vocalist Jon Epley. The group will continue in a trio format with Epley singing Gerald Wolfe’s baritone part. Wolfe has chronic pain from a neck muscle condition, which prompted the decision to add another singer. Wolfe will continue to sing occasional feature solos in addition to handling the emcee work and playing piano.
  • A new trio billed as By Grace performed their first concert yesterday at Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak, TN. This group of veteran singers includes Preston Garner (Freedom Quartet), Bryan Walker (Perrys/American Idol), and David Walker (Anchormen/Singing Americans/Kingdom Heirs).
  • Tim Lovelace announced that free tickets are available his next live comedy video taping. The event will take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 7, in Pangle Hall on the campus of Lee University (340 Church St. NE, Cleveland, Tennessee).  Call 800-965-9324 or click HERE to secure your free ticket.
  • Pianist Trey Ivey announced he is resigning from Legacy Five.
  • Mark Lowry announced his next CD will be released on the Daywind Records label. For more details, view Lowry’s announcement below:

RE: Greater Vision… does this mean they are going to start properly referring to Rodney as the lead singer now?

Good question. There are a number of “baritone” singers out there that sing lead the majority of the time. Scotty Inman and Mark Trammell are two that come to mind right away.

For several years, Gerald has acknowledged that Rodney is the lead singer. In fact, I remember him giving an acceptance speech for a Favorite Lead award and telling everybody that Rodney actually sang lead. They haven’t really pushed it for a while, and, to be honest, I haven’t thought much about it myself.

Then, again, several groups have lead & baritone singers that switch so frequently that most probably don’t pay much attention to it.
