Nominees for the 2026 Dove Awards were anounced this week by the Gospel Music Association. Karen Peck & New River’s song “I Speak Jesus” was nominated in the Inspirational Recorded Song category this year, a category where Southern Gospel artists are often overlooked. Today is the final day to vote in the 2026 Singing News Fan Awards.

REMEMBERING

Former Southmen singer Buddy Poe passed away on July 23. A memorial service was held on Tuesday in Hueytown, Alabama.

Last week, we reported that former Blue Ridge Quartet baritone/pianist Kenny Gates had passed away. His funeral service was held today in Boiling Spring, South Carolina.
