NEWS NUGGETS
Tony Brown was presented the ACM Icon Award by the Academy Of Country Music on Wednesday. Brown’s launched his career playing piano for several gospel groups in the 1960s and 1970s (JD Sumner & The Stamps, Oak Ridge Boys, Dixie Melody Boys) before becoming one of the top record producers in Country music.

The Inspirationals Quartet announced the departure of veteran lead singer Ralph Green who joined the group in 1972 (initially as their piano player). Green’s replacement will be former Perrys/Gold City lead singer Scott Brand.

Citing aging and some health issues, Servants Voices, a male trio based in Statesville, NC, announced the group will be disbanding at the end of November 2024.

REMEMBERING

Dunaway Music announced the recent passing of their office assistant and radio promoter, Bethany Lemon Hurt. A memorial service for Hurt will be held tomorrow in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
