Singing News presented their annual Fan Awards yesterday during an afternoon showcase at the National Quartet Convention. In addition to the winners displayed in the photomontage above, Joseph Habedank received the Fan Award for Favorite Soloist and The Sound was recognized as Favorite New Artist.
The image posted by Singing News on Facebook yesterday announcing the Gaither Vocal Band as winners of the Favorite Band award initially featured the group’s five singers rather than their musicians, sparking a debate among fans as well as a few industry members on whether the Gaither Vocal Band is qualified to win the Favorite Band award. Singing News replaced the image this morning with a photo of 30-year GVB guitarist and band leader Kevin Williams, 11-year veteran pianist Matthew Holt, and recently hired drummer Michael Rowsey.
