NEWS OF THE WEEK
On Sunday, Doyle Lawson announced he will be dissolving his band Quicksilver at the end of 2021. Lawson had previously announced plans for the group to tour through the end of 2022, but cited the COVID-19 pandemic and “having to restructure my operation and make decisions based on situations that seem to change more frequently than ever before” as reasons for his decision for changing the date. Lawson says he plans to “stay active doing other things musically that I enjoy.”
Bass singer Mike Allen has joined the Mansfield, Ohio-based Gloryway Quartet. Allen had been filling in with the group for the past few months prior to officially joining.
Point Of Grace recently released a concept video for their song “Gloria (The King Has Come).” The trio’s previously released CD Sing Noel will be repackaged/reissued next week with this new single added as the first track.
A new version of the “The Lighthouse” was released today by Ronny Hinson in celebration of the song’s 50th anniversary as a single with a concept video. (A full album was initially promised for release today.)
