Artist: Triumphant Quartet
Album Title: Bigger Than Sunday
Song Titles: Best Thing; He Walked Out; How Saved I Am; Bigger Than Sunday; Don’t Miss Jesus; Way Maker; Sing Hallelujah; Goodness Of God; Hope Is Holding Me; Triumphant Medley (When the Trumpet Sounds; Chain Breaker; Somebody Died for Me; Amazing God; Saved by Grace)
Release Date: February 5, 2021
Version Rated: YouTube Music
Rating: 4 1/2 Stars (scale of 1-5 Stars)
Summary: Kyle reviewed Bigger Than Sunday earlier. I agree with his rating of 4.5 Stars, so I won’t cover the ground Kyle has already covered again.

I will simply observe that I loved the entire album except I felt the medley could have been improved. “Somebody Died For Me” in particular is a story song that suffers when abbreviated in this fashion. I did, however, enjoy hearing the Rocky theme at the beginning leading into “When The Trumpet Sounds.”

Artist: Phil Cross
Album Title: Glorious: The Solo Sessions
Song Titles: Gonna Go With The Lord; In The New Jerusalem; Tell Me; He Had To Hold To Calvary; He’s Already In Your Tomorrow; We’ll Keep Pressing On; Look To God; Call It Amazing Call It Grace; Glorious Tomorrow; Mary Rocks The Rock
Release Date: February 12, 2021
Version Rated: YouTube Music
Rating: 3 1/2 Stars (scale of 1-5 Stars)
Summary: Glorious: The Solo Sessions is a collection of songs co-written and performed by Phil Cross. It’s always interesting to hear a writer present his own material.

A few of these titles have been released in the past including “Gonna Go With The Lord” that Cross recorded with the group Highland Park a few years ago and “He’s Already In Your Tomorrow” that Calvary’s Voice singled to radio over a decade ago. Cross is not the greatest singer I’ve ever heard (nor the worst, by the way), but what he does do well is showcase the consistent excellent quality of his songwriting.

If you have your own group, think of this as a fully produced collection of song demos to consider for your next recording session.
