I Am a Christian

If you are on Facebook, you have probably seen the posts that say, “If you know me, you know that I _______.” If I were to ask that question, I expect that some would mention the fact that I like the color pink. Others might comment that I love southern gospel music or I love my family. But I wonder how many would have as a first thought the fact that I am a Christian.

If you have been listening to southern gospel music long enough, you might remember the songs, Can the World See Jesus in You? and When the World Looks at Me, Can They See Jesus? These are questions we should constantly ask ourselves. It seems like the majority of people have their identity in their work or their family or something that they do instead of the fact that they know Jesus and, better yet, He knows them!

What kind of a Christian are you? A bold one who will not hesitate to tell others about the Lord, or a closet one who hopes that people somehow notice? I am ashamed to confess that I am not always bold but I pray for God’s help to become more so. I want people to know that, if they see anything good in me, it is only because of Him. I want to be in tune with His Spirit so that I know when to speak and when to listen, but that I always live in a manner that glorifies Him. When I die, I want there to be no doubt that I AM A CHRISTIAN!
