HIGHLIGHT
I returned home from NQC after the Thursday afternoon showcases, but I have another highlight article for you. I asked the world’s greatest Kingsmen quartet fan, David Stuart, to let me know who really stood out on Thursday evening. DS was particularly impressed by several sets on Thursday evening, but when I pressed him to narrow it down to just one, he said “GVB, hands down.”

Alan Kendall also caught the GVB set last night. He said, the “Vocal Band looked SHARP in those matching ‘Rangers-style’ suits!”

HISTORY
In a previous article, I mentioned the Singing News Fan Awards have commonly been presented during the National Quartet Convention. Did you know there was a time when the GMA Dove Awards were presented at NQC? In fact, the very first Dove Awards in 1969 were presented at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee during NQC.

Much like the album cover, things were bright and cheery for the Hemphills! With “I Can Smile”, they were back with the Benson Company under newly acquired, RiverSong label, and there were lots to smile about with this album!
