So that makes 3 people this year (that I know of) who have recorded Chain Breaker. Steve Ladd, Triumphant, and now the Vocal Band. Talk about wearing out a good song. I wonder who the next group will be to “jump on the bandwagon”.

I don’t mind the cover versions, but I wish they’d go in a different musical direction from the Zach Williams original.

Years ago everybody covered great songs.

Good point, David. Maybe kind of like the Ball Brothers did with It’s Gonna Be A Good Day. Totally different sound than the version that Gold City sang.

Make it 4. Michael English recorded it on his new album as well…

Chain Breaker is not on Michael’s new album.

It’s a terrific song, but I’m surprised that this many covers have come out so swiftly. Triumphant’s is still best in my eyes – the “original cover”, if you will.

Triumphant just announced that “Chain Breaker” will be the number one song for a second consecutive month in Singing News. That has only happened one time in the past ten years, and I couldn’t even hum a bar of the last song that did it.

(Just to be clear, I can hum the song that did it in July-August 2007, but not the one that did it in between.)

Love the Vocal Band, but Triumphant’s is better!!
