Last Saturday at the Singing In The Smokies event in Bryson City, NC, the Kingsmen Quartet introduced Harold Reed as their next tenor singer, replacing Thomas Nalley. Reed is a familiar face, having previously traveled with the Kingsmen from 2007 to 2011.

Master’s Voice announced the addition of Thomas Nalley who will run sound for the group. Nalley most recently sang tenor with the Kingsmen Quartet.

StowTown Records announced the addition of the Down East Boys to their artist roster. The group’s first release on the StowTown label is expected in September.

StowTown Records announced the launch of a new label imprint called Mountclear Jazz. Their goal is to produce music in the tradition of the Brentwood Jazz label of the past. A single In the Presence of Jehovah” released today featuring Kris Crunk, Gabriel Bello, and Dave Cleveland.

REMEMBERING

Carolina Gospel Association co-founder and past president Wayne Hardin passed away on July 4 at the age of 93. Hardin was also the co-founder of Southern Gospel radio station WGMA in Spindale, North Carolina. A memorial service for Hardin is being held in Rutherfordton, North Carolina as this article goes to press.
