Yesterday, someone on Facebook asked for prayer requests. I asked prayer for strength and wisdom. I’m currently reading through Psalms so when I read Chapter 28 this morning, verse 7 caught my eye:
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”
Scripture is filled with references to Yahweh being our strength so why do I stress so much about my human frailty? Instead, I must rely on the assurance that He will give me strength when I need it. He almost always does this, and, when He doesn’t, I probably don’t need as much as I think I do.
I don’t know what you are facing this week. Maybe you don’t either. But I do know that God will give you whatever you need for each situation. Whether it’s peace, joy, comfort, patience, you name it, God’s got it. The Freemans sang a song that said, “If God doesn’t have it, you didn’t need it.” So remember when you’re tempted to become frustrated or upset with God, He has promised to provide all of your needs, not necessarily all of your wants. And there is a difference.
My family has some changes coming up for which I will need strength, but I am entering this month thanking God for being my strength. He has never failed me yet, and I know that He won’t start now.
