God Is God … I Am Not (Thankfully!)

I’ve read stories of emperors and others who have desired to be gods. Personally, I don’t understand that desire. There is so much freedom in acknowledging the fact that God is God, and I am not! Sure, there may be times that I would do things differently, but I don’t see the big picture like He does. He has to make hard decisions sometimes while knowing that people will hate Him for them. I know there are parents who feel that way, but imagine having hundreds of thousands of children that you needed to govern. It would be an understatement to say that this is not an easy task.

I live in a family where health issues abound. Some have Lyme Disease; some have chronic fatigue issues; for some, it’s heart, arthritis, or dementia. Even in this, there is peace in knowing that God is in control. We need to be faithful in what we know to do (diet, supplements, exercise), but ultimately, it is God who gives strength when we have hit our emotional and physical limits.

Lest you think God sits on His throne and makes arbitrary decisions, that is not the case. His brain may work faster than humans, but I guarantee you that He calculates every decision in order to do what is best for His children. And sometimes He refrains from jumping in when someone is determined to make a bad decision. This must be harder than anything He has to do.

If you are tempted to rail at God or think you could do better than He is doing, think again. He may not be the most popular being in the universe, but He is still holding the world in His hands. He is still watching everyone all the time. He still loves a world that is more determined every day to defy Him and spit in His face. And no matter what you are going through, He still cares for YOU and longs for you to surrender everything to Him. This is not always easy, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is so worth it.

Father, thank You that You are God, that You have my future in Your hands, and that I can cast all my cares upon You, for You care for me … and for everyone reading this post.
