The Dixie Melody Boys announced the addition of tenor singer Buddy Bates of Millville, Ohio. Bates replaces Derrick Boyd who is completing his second stint as the group’s tenor singer (1987-1993; 2019-2020).
The National Quartet Convention announced the 2020 event is still scheduled to proceed as planned, but assured fans they will have the option to receive a refund for tickets already purchased IF the 2020 event is canceled. (NQC’s July 30th deadline for requesting refunds will otherwise apply if the event proceeds as planned.)
Gaither Management and Premier Productions have made the decision to postpone all dates originally scheduled for the month of September. This includes concerts scheduled for the Texas cities of College Station, Amarillo and Sunnyvale, as well as Little Rock, Arkansas; Warner Robins, Georgia; Richmond, Virginia; and Fayetteville, North Carolina. Refunds for all tickets purchased should be made at the point of purchase.
Earlier this week, Gaither Management and Premier Productions announced the Gaither Vocal Band Reunion event scheduled for August 21 & 22 in Tulsa, Oklahoma has been postponed to 2021.
AbsolutelyGospel.com announced the site’s annual awards program will be hosted online this year. Tune in to the site’s homepage or Facebook page on Tuesday, July 21 beginning at 7:00 PM (CST).
Singing News magazine announced the August issue will launch a brand new monthly column titled “Lasting Impression” written by Nick Trammell, lead singer of the Mark Trammell Quartet.
Family Music Group announced they have added the Marksmen Quartet to their family of recording artists.
REMEMBERING
Gospel and Country recording artist Charlie Daniels passed away on Monday, July 6 after suffering a stroke. A memorial service for Daniels will be held today, July 10, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
