The Year of Vision? Maybe Not.

by | Mar 29, 2020 | Uncategorized

Most of my life, I have been blessed with great vision. In fact, in spite of being almost 47 years old, I still do not wear glasses or contacts, although I did buy a pair of glasses last fall to help me read the small print on pill bottles. I probably wouldn’t have done that except they were pink and on clearance, and I figured they would come in handy (which they have). Since most everyone that I know wears some form of eye correction, I realize that I am especially blessed in this department, but I also know that in the next couple years, I will probably need to succumb to the world of eyewear.

Leading into this year, people were joking about 2020 being the year of vision, so it’s kind of ironic that this is turning out to be the year of uncertainty, but it has not taken God by surprise.

Last night, I was remembering when I would sing, “If It Takes a Valley,” and I would cry. I didn’t know if I would ever get to the place where I could sing that from the heart. Now I feel like that the valleys I have gone through have helped to prepare me for today. Seeing how God has brought me through in the past helps me to understand more clearly that He will not leave nor forsake me. I don’t know how I can feel such peace and assurance when I don’t know when I will receive more income, but God knows, and I really don’t doubt that it will be at the perfect time.

I love Job 23:10 where Job declares, “But He knows the way that I take, and when He has tried me, I will come forth as gold.” No matter what life throws at me, I want to shine for Him. I never want to stop declaring how good God is in the good times and in the bad times.

We in America are spoiled. We are being inconvenienced, and it is not enjoyable. But what a perfect time to study the Word, to seek His face, to spend time with the family that we are quarantined with. I am praying that this does not last much longer, but I also pray for grace to keep trusting and praising no matter how long we are in seclusion. And one day, we will look back and see with perfect vision how God used this time in each of our lives. God bless you all!
