Wait on the Lord

Back in September, my friend Daniel Mount got married to the lady of his dreams. I’ve known Daniel for about 15 years, and it was never a secret that he wanted to get married and have a family. Through the years, he moved out of state, was busy with work and church functions, but never lost sight of his dream. A couple years ago, Daniel moved back to Ohio so that he could better work on his health, and he became involved in a church there. This is where he met Ariel Gunther, and the rest is history.

The things that strike me about this story are:

  1. Daniel did not “settle.” He knew what he was looking for in a wife (all of which were Godly qualities), and he was willing to remain single until he found it.
  2. Daniel did not have to make something happen. He was simply following God’s leading and, at the right time, God opened Daniel’s eyes to the woman he was to marry.

As a single woman, stories like this are encouraging. I am often reminded that if I am seeking God and following Him, He will direct my paths, but really this can be applied to any aspect of life. You don’t have to waste time, energy, and stress trying to make things happen that you think you want. If you are completely surrendered to the Lord, He will write your story, and it will be better than anything you could have written for yourself.

    Thank you for sharing.
    What a wonderful testimony.
Many of us think sometimes we may have rushed things, but God can change our impatience in doing things from lemon to lemonade.
    Patience provides virtue.
    Virtue provides a virtuous woman

2 Peter 1:2-7 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Proverbs 31:9-11 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously,
and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Thank you for your comment, Scotty. I am reading through Proverbs and focusing on wisdom and the importance of it. So much to glean.
