GOSPEL MUSIC HAPPENINGS

IMC Concerts announced their annual Southwest Gospel Music Festival is relocating to the Ikeda Theater at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ for 2020. The festival dates are Monday, January 6 through Wednesday, January 8.

The Gatlin Brothers announced the release of a new running/walking shoe that will be sold to help benefit the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). The national non-profit organization provides peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, seminars, camps for kids, casework assistance and a 24/7 helpline.

The Alabama-based Clearvision Quartet announced the impending departure of baritone Chris Fugatt, who joined the group just last year. Fugatt will remain with the group through August.

REMEMBERING

Television producer, preacher, singer, songwriter, and trumpet player Dr. Jerry Goff passed away on Friday, July 12. His memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday, July 20) in Powder Springs, Georgia and will be streamed live starting at 2 PM on the websites of television stations WGGS[1] and WATC[2]. Dr. Goff’s interment ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 23 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gospel musician Dwayne Friend passed away on Wednesday, July 17. A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday, July 20) in Mountain Grove, Missouri.

Former Watchmen Quartet, Messenger’s Quartet and Calvary Messenger’s Quartet lead singer Arthur Negre passed away on Sunday, July 14. A memorial service was held for Mr. Negre yesterday (Thursday, July 18) in Purdy, Missouri.
