The 76th Anniversary celebration of the North Point Baptist Church in Carrollton, GA featured 3 Heath Brothers from Thomasville, North Carolina. I had seen several videos posted by Arthur Rice and the Ball Brothers, so I knew I was in for a treat seeing them in person.
These young men have been taught from their very early years to sing harmony with each other by their mom Emily, who also does many of the arrangements of the songs they sing. Seventeen year old Nicholas and 15 year old twins Christian and Clayton make up this trio. Nicholas sings tenor and Christian and Clayton share the lead and baritone parts. I loved seeing them interact together on stage. They are playful and entertaining but they are also very sincere and confident in the presentation of their messages. They have great diction, too, with every word understandable so the message is clear. In addition to their singing, they had a brass ensemble of two trumpets and two trombones that included their dad, Jonathan, and Nicholas played a pretty complex piano solo of “It Is Well With My Soul.” Many of the songs they perform are a capella. In fact, their first album, Allegiance, is entirely a capella. One of the statements on the liner notes of that album states that they are “just normal boys with a slight overdose of enthusiasm!”
Check out their schedule here and if you get a chance, go hear these fine young men!
Here are some videos for you to enjoy:
I Know Whom I Have Believed – One of my all-time favorite hymns!!! Don’t be fooled by the beginning of the video which starts out with a different hymn!
If You Knew Him – I enjoyed this arrangement – a little different from the Perrys and Joseph Habedank’s arrangements.
Pray Hard – Such a powerful song!
And here are videos from two other sources –
