NQC 2021 NEWS THIS WEEK

The National Quartet Convention’s permanent seat holders were informed by a pair of letters this week that the seating arrangement for the 2021 event will no longer feature NQC’s traditional center stage layout. The new end-stage layout will be similar to the one used in 2020 during the “Plan B” event, NQC Fall Festival. NQC president Clarke Beasley cites the overwhelming response to the end-stage layout from Fall Festival attendees as the inspiration to change the layout for the main event in 2021.

The number of riser sections available at NQC will be reduced to five in 2021. These will be positioned roughly twice as far from the stage as in years past. For reference, the LeConte Center’s main room measures 350x 300 feet, so the risers are about a football field’s length from the stage, give or take a few yards depending on the orientation of the layout. The sound booth will be positioned near the center of the room rather than against a wall as in years past. NQC has promised to provide considerably larger video screens than in previous years.

NQC permanent seat holders have been assigned specific time windows in the coming weeks to log-in at www.nqconline.com and select new seats for the new end-stage layout. Those who prefer to call iTickets and have a human assist them with the transition will be charged an additional $5.00 service fee. If you are a permanent seat holder, but did not receive a letter with these instructions, you should contact iTickets at 1-800-846-8499 right away. You need to know your assigned date to select seats AND you must use a special code to transfer credit from your 2020 ticket purchases to the new 2021 tickets.

Patrons who purchased front row seats in the sections nearest the stage for the 2020 NQC will be the first group allowed to select seats. The next two groups will consist of seat holders who previously purchased at least one aisle seat. The final four groups are sorted by the proximity of their 2020 seat nearest to the stage. Those who previously had seats in the middle of a section very near the stage…Row B and back…will choose their seats after fans who have aisle seats further from the stage, in other words. When contacted for more details, a representative from iTickets stated that aisle seats are more highly desired by the majority of fans than seats very near the stage without direct aisle access, so they have scheduled those with aisle seats to select new 2021 seats first.

Fans who have not yet purchased tickets for NQC 2021 will have that opportunity after permanent seat holders have made their selections. NQC’s website indicates the on-sale date will be announced soon.
