Ernie Haase & Signature Sound announced a portion of the proceeds from their new Christmas recording A Jazzy Little Christmas will benefit New York Care’s Winter Wish program. This program partners with family shelters, public housing facilities and public schools across the five boroughs of New York City to provide gifts to children and teens during the holidays. It is the largest volunteer network in New York City.

The Collingsworth Family’s latest recording, A True Family Christmas, hit the number one spot on Billboard magazine’s genre-spanning Holiday Album Sales chart for the week ending November 2.

REMEMBERING

Jim Thrasher passed away on Wednesday, November 6. Thrasher sang tenor with his brothers in the Thrasher Brothers from the group’s inception when they were children in the late 1940s until the group retired in 1986. He also managed a top motor coach company. A memorial service for Thrasher will be held this coming Monday, November 11, in Trussville, Alabama.

      Thanks Chris. I have asked record labels to provide that sort of information to us, but some of them evidently see no advantage in having a free announcement made about their releases. It’s funny that Taranda’s Spirit Of Christmas wasn’t even listed on their distributor’s website either, which I check weekly. I guess it’s a secret.

    I think Jim Thrasher was the Lead singer for the Thrasher Brothers Quartet. Joe was the tenor. But Jim could probably sing tenor. Buddy, too. RIP, Jim.

    Actually…Jim was the tenor but Joe stood where the tenor typically stands. Jim was out for a period in the early 70’s and Ron Booth, SR (an excellent tenor) filled in. However, Joe Thrasher could sing tenor as well as anybody…

    Ronnie Booth SR (a very fine tenor) actually filled in for Jim during an absence back in the early 70’s. Both Jim and Joe were capable of singing tenor, but Jim was the designated tenor. Their stage presence had Joe at the typical tenor spot, and that confused people…
