GOSPEL MUSIC HAPPENINGS

The Southern Gospel Music Association will be offering tours of The Cathedrals’ famous ‘Silhouette’ bus on Tuesday afternoon at the National Quartet Convention from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Purchasing a $20 SGMA membership at NQC will include a tour of the bus. (Existing SGMA members can extend their membership another year to gain admission.)

If cutting to the front of the line to board the ‘Silhouette’ first on Tuesday at 3:00 PM sounds appealing to you, be one of the first 50 people to make a $50 donation (includes a two-year membership) to the SGMA TODAY ONLY via their website. Click HERE, then look for the yellow “donate” button just under the Welcome message on the SGMA homepage.

New Haven Records announced a partnership with Country Road TV to begin in October. Country Road TV’s streaming platforms will deliver New Haven productions that feature the Chuck Wagon Gange, JD Sumner & The Stamps, The Goodmans, and more.

In a joint statement, Bob Sellers and the Old Time Preachers Quartet announced Sellers is leaving the group now that their schedule has ballooned to more than 100 dates per year. (When he joined them last year, Sellers had committed to a maximum of 60 dates per year.) This move will free Sellers up to book more solo appearances going forward.

In the same press release, Les Butler said Old Time Preachers Quartet’s current bass guitarist and featured vocalist Adam Borden is stepping up to sing lead. Borden recently left his job at Kubota to enter full-time evangelistic work which includes appearances with the OTPQ.

The Dixie Echoes announced former member George Shelton, Jr. is temporarily returning to the group to fill the tenor spot recently vacated by Stephen Adair. Shelton will appear at the National Quartet Convention with the Dixie Echoes next week.
