Our God Is …

by | Aug 11, 2019 | Uncategorized

If I asked you to describe God in one word, what would you say? I expect some would immediately shout out, “awesome,” “wonderful,” “amazing.” And He is all of these things, but I wonder how many would say, “holy,” “righteous,” “just.”

Hebrews 12:29 tells us that “Our God is a consuming fire.” That sounds scary to me.

I feel like it is important to understand how much God loves us and cares for us but when we begin to take His love for granted and think we can live how we want because He is obligated to forgive us, we are treading on dangerous ground.

In order to truly know God, you must realize that He is slow to anger but He does get angry. He loves you more than you can imagine but He will punish those who do not follow Him. He is compassionate but He is just. He may not grant your selfish desires but, if you are His child, He will supply all your needs.

If you have time, I encourage you to do a word study of all the attributes of God and ponder (or look up) what each one means. Get to know Him as He really is. I expect that you will be drawn closer to Him in the process.

So many time we look at God’s good side, but forget that God has wrathful side.
