Concert Review: Pat Barker (Oxford, AL)

I don’t care what Facebook says, I always have a great time seeing Pat Barker in concert! This time it was a solo concert at Meadowbrook Baptist Church where Pat spent several childhood years when his father was the music director there. This was an occasion to honor David Bain on his last day as the church’s music director.

This concert featured some real classic songs like Sweet Beulah Land, Thanks to Calvary, and He Looked Beyond My Faults as well as some wonderful newer songs like It’s a Miracle, Ain’t God Good, and You Can Depend on Jesus. The church’s pianist, Jason Vaughn, accompanied Pat on several songs, including I’ve Got That Old Time Religion in My Heart (video below). Pat is one of those basses who can not just hit those low notes but can carry a beautiful melody with his rich vocal tones. Besides that, he is personable, witty, and very easy on the eyes!

Here are a few videos from the evening:

You can normally see Pat when he sings with The Guardians, so check out their schedule here!

I have a question: why is everyone trying to ignore Pat Barker? Is it some type of joke, or did he do something or what? I don’t understand.

I think that “I don’t care what Facebook says” is a good principle for life in general ;)
