I woke up this morning with the song “Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary” going through my head. Throughout the day, various lyrics and scriptures have filtered through my brain. I am so thankful that God often brings the perfect words to mind right when I need them. And even if I don’t “need” them, I have learned that someone else might.
A number of years ago, I went through a time where I could not hear the music. No matter how much I tried, it would not come. It was the darkest valley I had walked through in a while. I hated it, but if there’s something good that came out of it, it made me more appreciative of how much God tangibly reminds me that He is here.
I’m sure you have heard people say that you don’t need to feel God to be saved. There may be some truth to that, but I hope that you will not settle for going through life without ever feeling His presence. There may be seasons when you have to walk by faith whether you feel Him or not, but this should not be all day every day of your life.
When you are with a friend, you know they are there. You talk to them and hear them talk back to you. You can reach out and touch them. It should be this way with our relationship with God as well.
If you are going through a dry period where you struggle to find meaning in life and you wonder if God is really there, reach out to Him and don’t stop until you know that you have at least touched the hem of His garment. God desires to replace your mundane, empty life with one that is full of love and joy and peace. Begin to ask Him for that today!
