Audio Mini-Review: Debbie Cochran – Born Again Wildflower

by | May 2, 2018 | CD Reviews, Reviews

Debbie Cochran is a Christian Country artist who wrote all ten of the songs that appear on her 2016 CD Born Again Wildflower. I generally like to review CDs closer to release date, but this particular project was just sent my way a couple of weeks ago.

Cochran’s alto vocals are confident, expressive, and distinctively Country. Her original song lyrics paint pictures of life. She sometimes forces metaphors, but generally, her songs have a familiar quality that should be well-received by fans of traditional Country music.

The highlight is the CD’s title track, “Born Again Wildflower,” which features a guest appearance by Country music legend Dolly Parton. Cochran carries the melody for most of the song, but Parton steps in for a solo on the second verse, adds harmony vocals on the choruses, and provides a few decorative ad-libs that really elevate this track.
