This concert was actually the first one I got to attend in 2018, but I had not taken the time to write up my thoughts on it. So, here goes!
This concert was held at the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, and was promoted by Robert York. He was the promoter for one of the first southern gospel concerts I attended at a church (Praise Tabernacle – Mercy’s Mark Quartet!). Bobby has introduced me to such a variety of artists through the years and I want to take this opportunity to thank him so much! He keeps saying that he’s going to slow down or even stop promoting, but he just can’t make himself quit and he continues to find new ways and venues to promote this music that we love.
Opening the evening were Children of the Promise, who pretty much exploded into the limelight when Gerald Wolfe introduced Eli Shaw singing “I Know a Man Who Can” with Greater Vision at Singing In The Sun in Myrtle Beach, but I can say, I knew and loved the group MUCH earlier than that since they are local to the greater Atlanta area. The group appears mostly with mom Nikki Barker Shaw and sons Eli and Jacob, although youngest son Isaac is also listed as a group member. While Eli does get a lot of attention, these videos will certainly show that there is a lot of talent in the other group members as well!
I Know My Lord’s Gonna Stand By Me
There is a very good reason that the Booth Brothers keep getting so many fan awards. Their concerts are always full of great songs, excellent vocals, and ministry using humor and scripture. Even when they aren’t feeling 100% (as they weren’t during a concert at this same church last year), Michael and Ronnie Booth and Paul Lancaster give more than 100% to be sure to connect with and serve their audiences. They had a bit of a more casual look this year with no ties and with all of the guys sporting facial hair. They looked and sounded terrific! They sang several hymns from their latest Hymns Pure and Simple Vol. 3 CD, with the audience joining in on some of them. It was incredibly difficult to decide on just a few of the videos from this concert to post, but here are some that show the variety and excellence of the program:
Facts Are Facts – You can’t hear them, but audience members are singing pretty enthusiastically during the refrain of the song!
I want to mention one of the features of the Booth Brothers website. They have a song search option that is wonderful. You can search by keyword or title and then you can link to the lyrics when you find one or more song titles. Just wow! I know that took some extra effort . I get many requests for song lyrics in the comments on my YouTube videos and I would LOVE to be able to be able to point to more artist websites where people can get the information they need.
