- Brock & Faye Speer’s son, Brian, is launching The New Speer Family. Joining Brian in the new group will be his wife, Allison Durham Speer, as well as bass singer Mike Allen and Ben Waites.
- The Dixie Gospel Caravan is a radio program launched by Wayne Wallace in 1968. During 2018, the show is celebrating their 50th anniversary bringing Southern Gospel music to fans in the Birmingham, Alabama market at 93.7 FM.
- Alabama-based Bluegrass Gospel artist Canaan’s Crossing recently announced the resignation of long-time Fiddle player and Vocalist, Tina Miller. Miller has been replaced by Hannah Black, the sister of Canaan’s Crossing guitarist Joshua Black.
- The first video single from the upcoming Gaither Vocal Band/Oak Ridge Boys/Gatlin Brothers 2-DVD/CD was released this morning. Enjoy!
Remembering
- Southern Gospel Hall Of Fame member Jim Hill passed away on Wednesday,
January 10. Hill sang tenor and lead with several groups including the Stamps, Statesmen, and his own group, Jim Hill & The Golden Keys. He also wrote gospel songs including the enduring classic “What A Day That Will Be.”

The Vocal Band/Gatlins/Oaks album sounds interesting. Maybe I should pick up a copy when it’s available. But I think I’ll pass on the Guy Penrod one. Is he really doing another hymns album?? He hasn’t done an original album since his first one. Seems strange……
