As I travel the country, I am often the recipient of others’ gifts and talents. Whether it is music, ministry, hospitality, servanthood, etc., I love watching people use these gifts for the glory of God and the blessing of His people.
I’ve struggled most of my life to know what my gifts and talents are but, if I could ask for a gift, it would be the gift of encouragement. So many struggle to find joy and purpose through their trials. I love being able to share a smile or a kind word or a song or Scripture that might help to lift their spirits.
I expect there are some in the Body of Christ that allow fear to cripple them and keep them from using their talent. Instead, they hide it like the foolish man in the Bible. If you are that person, I encourage you to pick that gift or talent up and invest it in the lives of others. Ask God to take away the insecurities and give you a genuine heart for others. Once your focus is taken off of yourself, it will be easier to reach out, and you will be happier knowing that you are fulfilling your purpose.
