The SGMA benefit showcase on Tuesday afternoon featured an array of performances plus four Hall Of Fame inductions. There was also a plea for more fans to join the SGMA. (The cost of membership is $20 per year.)
HIGHLIGHTS
Most groups avoided their showier pieces for this showcase, so the four induction segments collectively were the highlights of the showcase. Troy Burns and Randy Shelnut were present to accept their honors along with members of their respective families. Those honored posthumously were Tony Greene and LaBreeska Hemphill.
HISTORY
Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies have not always been held during NQC. Just a few years ago, both the Singing News Fan Awards and the SGMA Hall Of Fame ceremonies were held off-site. At the same time, NQC launched their own awards, but those were cancelled once the Singing News Fan Awards returned.
