Recent Happenings

  • The Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame announced their 2018 inductees will include Jason Crabb. Other inductees in the class of 2018 are David “Stringbean” Akeman, Dale Ann Bradley,  Billy Ray Cyrus, Jackie DeShannon and Bobby Lewis.
  • The Gospel Music Association announced the finalists for the 2017 Dove Awards. Click HERE[1] to view the entire list. Winners will be announced in October.
  • The Diamond Awards announced their Top Five Finalists. Click HERE[2] to vote. Winners will be announced during the Creekside Gospel Music Convention in October.

Remembering

  • Lisa Hamblen Jaserie, former singer and CEO of Hamblen Music Company, passed away on July 25. A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles, California tomorrow.

Trivia Nugget

  • As teenagers in 1954, Lisa and Veeva Hamblen recorded “Open Up Your Heart (And Let The Sunshine In)” at 33 1/3 RPM, but the song was released as a 45 single. This predecessor to the “Chipmunks effect” is said to be the first instance of sped up voices used in a popular recording. Click HERE[3] to give it a listen.
