I was able to see Greater Vision in concert benefiting the Compassion World Outreach organization. This organization focuses on training pastors and church leaders in multiple African countries. The concert was held at Prince Avenue Baptist Church near Athens, Georgia and three of the church’s members were on hand to sing during the event – and they were terrific!
Greater Vision has fairly recently added Jon Epley (formerly of the Inspirations, Ball Brothers, and LeFevre Quartet) to its roster, so that Gerald Wolfe can conserve his voice and concentrate on emceeing and accompanying the group on the keyboard. Other members Rodney Griffin and Chris Allman continue with their vocals and songwriting. Jon sounds great with the group without changing the overall sound we expect from Greater Vision. I was especially glad to see these gentlemen perform some songs from their just-released project, Still. They performed quite a few songs including four of the new songs and some of their own classics God Wants to Hear You Sing, He’s Still Waiting By the Well, He’d Still Been God, and My Name is Lazarus. Gerald joined the rest of the group and sang Until You Know the Love of God. Gerald was also persuaded to create a medley on the spot from four hymn/song requests from the audience. Of course, it was wonderful.
Here are the videos I chose as highlights of the evening. I may post some videos later of the church members who sang if I can get more information and permission from them to post.
Love the videos! Wish I could have been there with you.
