Last Week’s Happenings

  • New Day Records was launched last week to provide distribution, marketing, and promotion services to established independent artists. New Day Records is a subsidiary of Daywind Music Group which also owns the similarly named distribution company, New Day Christian Distributors.
  • The first artist to use the services of New Day Records is Michael Combs for his most recent CD, I Can Trust Him (2016). Combs is in the process of completing his very first concept video for “Good vs. Evil,” which appears on I Can Trust Him.
  • The members of Karen Peck & New River made a return trip to Roatan, Honduras last week where they performed the title song from their upcoming CD, Hope For All Nations, as well as other songs. On Saturday, they were backed by a choir made up of island church members. A video release of their performance in Honduras is forthcoming.
  • The Fort Payne, Alabama-based Sharps Quartet announced the addition of Sharon Kisor to their support team. Sharon will be the group’s new Office/Booking Manager.
  • Carolina Williams, daughter of Gaither Vocal Band guitar player Kevin Williams, found herself suddenly famous last week after an article about her unique acceptance to Yale University caught the attention of news outlets across the nation. She is now known as “Pizza Girl.” Click HERE for more details.
  • WPIL Radio in Heflin, Alabama announced the addition of a new show starting this week. Hosted by Vonda Easley, “Beautifully Broken” is intended to encourage today’s woman.

Just curious…how did Third Day make the list?

Why not? Their new single already in circulation is one of the best songs I’ve heard in years.

As a follow-up, it’s not just about my own personal taste in music. I’ve already seen one current Southern Gospel singer and one former former professional Southern Gospel singer on Facebook bragging on the Third Day song “Revival.”

If it’s an upcoming release that I think a good portion of our readers might enjoy, I list it here.

Just a few weeks ago, someone thanked me for calling their attentiont to Zach Williams, a relatively new artist who sings in a “Southern Soul” style much like Jason Crabb (or Mac Powell/Third Day).
