Don’t Give Up

Don’t Give Up

Do you ever have times when you struggle and then you feel guilty because you should be stronger but there are times that you’re not? Maybe this is unique to me, but I hate those times. I see strong men and women of God and wish I could be like them 24/7. Even as I think this, I know that everyone has struggles. Some are just better at putting on a good face than others.

If you are having a hard time, I want you to know that struggling is not a sin. Giving in, however, can be. Too many give up fighting the good fight because fighting is hard. This is why God encourages us to cast our burdens on Him, to let Him carry them. Years ago, we sang a song that said, “Through our God, we shall do valiantly. It is He who will cast down the enemy.” Sometimes God brings Scripture to mind; sometimes He brings songs. Today I’m singing: “We’ll sing and shout the victory: Christ is King!”

If you are going through a trial, don’t go through it alone. And definitely don’t give up. “In every situation, God gave blessed consolation that my trials come to only make me strong.” It truly is in the hard times that we learn to trust in God … IF we don’t lose heart.

These are hard words to remember when we are struggling greatly with life. May our hearts be encouraged today to worship the God of all creation. Yes, there are days and even weeks where we want to give up, but we must trust even in these things, “God will make these trials a blessing.”

Interesting you commented on this post now. I recently lost a very dear friend that I thought would be a friend forever, so I’ve temporarily lost my fight, and I do feel like giving up. My sister is getting worried about me, though, so I am praying for extra strength to get through this time. I’m thankful for God, who never leaves me nor forsakes. I know He has a plan in this, but I pray to see it soon. I guess sometimes I need to go back and read my own writings.
