In the Valley, He Restores My Soul

I’m sure everyone on earth would prefer not to have trials. I, for one, would love to always have excellent health, great relationships, no financial worries, and for everything to always go my way. If that were always the case, though, I wonder how much time I would spend with God. I expect that it would be easy to take His goodness for granted. Maybe I would even feel like I had all those things because of how great I am. But I imagine that, at the very root of it all, my soul would be empty. It may be nice for a while, but would there be real joy?

You know, on second thought, I’m grateful that life is not always easy. At least, if that’s what it takes to draw me closer to my Father. I find that it is easy to get in a rut, but it is often in the valley that I receive renewed faith and hope, the reminder I need that God is in control and that He loves me. No matter what happens in life, I have that assurance for, you see, it really is often in that valley that He restores my soul.

Wonderful article from the 23 rd Psalms.

It also reminds me of the famous song by Dottie Rambo by the same title.

But the article also reminds me of another Dottie Rambo song that seems more in line with article..

DON’T TAKE MY BURDENS OR MY CROSS AWAY

    I

MY BURDENS KEEP ME HUMBLE AND TEACH ME TO PRAY.
IF I MURMUR OR CRUMBLE FORGIVE THE WORDS I SAY.
GIVE ME STRENGTH TO CARRY MY CROSS DAY BY DAY.
BUT DON’T TAKE MY BURDENS OR MY CROSS AWAY.

    CHORUS

FOR I WOULD GROW CARELESS AND IDLE I FEAR.
MY EYES WOULD BE DRY AND I WOULD NEVER SHED A TEAR.
LEST I FORGET I NEED YOU EACH DAY.
DON’T TAKE MY BURDENS OR MY CROSS AWAY.

    II

WITH A CROSS ON MY SHOULDER MY FEET CANNOT STRAY
FOR THE CROSS LEADS ME ONWARD TO MY HOME FAR AWAY.
SO I WILL NOT QUESTION THE PRICE I MUST PAY.
JUST DON’T TAKE MY BURDENS OR MY CROSS AWAY

    Thank you for encouraging words..
