Thankful That He Came

Last night, I was thinking how easy it is to stay focused on the cares of life and the things that are not going well instead of realizing how much we really are blessed. I know this sounds more like the beginning of a Thanksgiving post instead of a Christmas one but, when you think about it, it is because of Jesus that we can rejoice.

What would life be like if Jesus had not come to earth? God would probably be viewed as someone to be feared but someone very unrelational. “Gods are good at telling us what to do, but they don’t know what life is like for us humans.” The fact is that Jesus came to earth and “was tempted in every way, just as we are” (Hebrews 4:15). Yet, because He did not give in to those temptations, we have hope.

We serve a holy God, who loves His servants. His commands are for our good. He is not self-serving and unreasonable like other “gods.” And, the best news yet: He’s alive!

I am so grateful to serve a living Savior. I love this time of year to focus on His birth. I pray that I will be faithful so that He will not be disappointed in me. I pray you all have a blessed week celebrating His life!
