CD Mini-Review: The Gabbards – Prayer Warriors

cover170x170Song Titles: “Prayer Warriors,” “Nothing Greater,” “Jesus Strong,” “Faith That Floats,” “Wonderful Day,” “You Are The Life,” “Sing A New Song,” “Shoutin’ Too,” “Blood Of The Lamb,” “Father’s Business,” “It Is The Cross,” “Beautiful”

RATING: 3 Stars (on a scale of 1-5 Stars)

Prayer Warriors by The Gabbards features twelve songs written by group members Adrian Gabbard and Rob Gabbard. The family group is based in Kentucky. Several group members are also preachers.

General highlights of this CD include heartfelt, expressive solo performances and quality music tracks. The song topics are creative and the vocal harmonies are generally solid.

The area that could stand the most improvement is lyric construction. Rhymes tend to be predictable and some phrases feel awkward. I also heard an occasional shaded pitch.

Top tracks are “Wonderful Day,” “Sing A New Song” and “Father’s Business.” “Beautiful” should also be included because it’s such a stylistic departure from the rest of the CD.
