Last Week’s Happenings

  • The Blackwood Singers have announced that they will be leaving the Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge at the end of their 15th season in Pigeon Forge. They will be moving to Branson, MO, to be closer to family. No theater has been named as of yet.
  • The McKameys announced that Roger Fortner is retiring from the group after a 28-year tenure. He plans to devote more time to studio work in the future.
  • Crossroads Entertainment & Marketing publishing companies Asheville Music Publishing and Chris White Music added Dixie Phillips and Sharon Phillips to their in-house roster of songwriters. These two sisters-in-law were the winners of the 2012 Singing News/Solid Gospel Songwriter Search.
  • Daywind Publishing added Aaron Wilburn to their team of songwriters. In addition to his career as a Christian comedian and singer, Wilburn has written “Four Days Late,” “That Sounds Like Home To Me” and several more well-known Gospel songs.

Prayer Requests

  • Claude Hopper suffered a small stroke on Friday. The Hoppers have requested prayers for a speedy recovery.
