Last Week’s Happenings

  • Julie Hudson is leaving the Chuck Wagon Gang after 9 1/2 years as their soprano.
  • Daywind Instrumental, a new label imprint for the Daywind company, will specialize in instrumental music.
  • At the Pigeon Forge Hospitality Association’s July meeting last Thursday, LeConte Center manager Phil Campbell updated the group on some of the major events hosted at the venue including their largest event, the National Quartet Convention. City commissioners have approved one paving project that would add more parking to the municipal lot in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, and Campbell has requested more staff. In 2014, many city employees from other departments were temporarily relocated to serve as staff at the LeConte Center during NQC week.
  • Last Saturday, The Ball Brothers wowed quite a few internet fans with their workout room rehearsal of “I Shall Know Him,” covering a challenging arrangement they heard The Mullins sing on a Gaither video years ago. Presumably, they went on stage later that evening and wowed the fans in Red Deer, Alberta as well.

  • The first Heritage Of Gold concert featuring current Gold City members, Tim Riley, LeFevre Quartet, Wilburn & Wilburn and Jay Parrack & Vocal Event happened last Saturday at North Glencoe Baptist Church in Gold City’s home town of Gadsden, Alabama.

Prayer Requests

  • Please keep Bill Shivers (Brian Free & Assurance) and his entire family in your prayers. Bill’s brother, Charles Shivers, passed away on Thursday, July 9.
