Song Titles: “Good Tired,” “Make A Difference In This World,” “When You’re In Love,” “Good To Know It’s Not The End,” “It Is Well With My Soul,” “Peeples Road,” “We Only Have Today,” “The Cross Gives Me Hope,” “I Stand In Awe,” “Blessed Assurance,” and “Look Around”

Analysis In A Nutshell: This Georgia group consists of a dad (David Akin) and his three sons (Dave, Nick, and Eli). They do it all. They play their own instruments. They write their own songs. They recorded Good Tired at their own studio. Obviously, they also sing. Stylistically, we’re talking Christian and Positive Country more so than standard Southern Gospel. Some songs, such as the instrumental “Peeples Road,” have a Bluegrass flair. They cover a couple of hymns.

The vocals could use some tweaking in spots, and some of the songwriting goes for obvious rhymes and thematic ideas. The stylistic range of the CD as a whole is too broad. They’re still exploring musical areas that are outside their key strengths. Overall, though, it’s fairly impressive for a group to hit the ground running with this level of quality.

Oh yeah…I should mention the graphic design, which is pretty impressive. The CD booklet is 20 pages AND well done, which is rare.
