CD Rated: Dale & Cheryl Golden (Hymns Of Gold I)

Artist: Dale & Cheryl Golden
Title: Hymns Of Gold I
Rating:
3 1/2 Stars

Nutshell Analysis: This new CD by Dale & Cheryl Golden includes twenty familiar hymns in a Country style. These are simple arrangements, sung simply and I must say, simple is often better. I wasn’t particularly impressed by the last CD that the Goldens sent me for review, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. While their vocals still fall short of blowing me away, I’m able to get a better sense of their unique vocal personality this time around. This combination of familiar words sung in a non-complicated manner over non-complicated but good quality music tracks is more effective. Although Hymns Of Gold I is lacking some in the creativity department, there’s enough variety and a unifying style/theme that runs through the recording. The graphic design features too much garish chartreuse green…ugh! (Hire the design out next time, Dale!)

Those two points aside, Hymns Of Gold I is a pleasing improvement.
